Flybarless And Me: Is The Third Time The Charm?

June 8th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Just a quick post to let anyone following the saga of me and my flybarless-converted Trex 600E in on the progress. If you’ll recall, the heli bit the dust rather spectacularly a few weeks ago during the second attempt at flybarless flight. I’m not quite sure what the issue was, but Art from Skookum Robotics contacted me shortly thereafter and sent me a brand new SK-360 so I could rule that out as a possibility.

I’m happy to report that the 600E has been repaired and the new SK-360 is installed and configured. The setup is as perfect to the  instructions as anyone could possibly get it and it’s ready for flight. I’m waiting for the opportunity to have my friend James (some of you may know him :) ) come out and assist. He’s got these SK-360s all figured out and we figure that two heads are better than one.  Due to weather and schedules, It may be a week or two before we can get together for anopther go at it, but it will happen soon.

I would like to mention that through this whole process, Art from Skookum Robotics has been right there working with me the whole time. He’s a credit to the hobby and really does care about his customers. I purchased the initial SK-360 from Art… it was not donated or discounted in any way, Art just takes that good care of his customers.

Stay tuned to the blog for the details of the next flight! I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that the third time really is the charm. As always, I’ll also let you all know what we end up with as far as problem diagnosis goes.
